Ozone O3: Practical guide to sanitation

Guide to sanitizing vehicles with the Ozone-O3 multi-sanitizing station.

With the Covid-19 virus pandemic, sanitation and disinfection procedures have become essential to safeguard the health of people in public environments.

The new Ozone O3 multi-sanitizing station has recently been added to our product range, a device designed for the sanitization of transport vehicles such as trucks, buses and building spaces from 150 to 300 m2 equipped with a ozone generator and a nebulization system.

In this article, a guide to sanitizing vehicles with our sanitizing station will be illustrated step by step, with useful tips and warnings for a correct, professional and safe sanitation.

1) Preparation for sanitation

Preparazione sito per la sanificazione

Remove any objects inside the vehicle and close all windows and doors. Place the station on the floor as close as possible to the air intake of the ventilation system.

Ozone O3 - Inserimento liquido disinfettante

Unscrew the cap located on the top of the Ozone-O3 and enter the amount of sanitizer as indicated in the table in the “usage and maintenance” manual supplied with the machine.

Ozone O3 - Collegamento presa elettrica

Connect the station to a power supply, if you need to sanitize a room, you can use the adapter for 220 V wall sockets.

Ozone O3 - Avvio veicolo

Start the vehicle with the handbrake engaged and set the ventilation system to “air intake from outside”, with minimum temperature (16 °C), fan at minimum speed, uniform air distribution on all air vents and air conditioning switched on.

2) Setting the sanitation program

Ozone O3 - Controllo assenza persone e animali prima della sanificazione

Before proceeding with sanitization it is important to remove people and animals from the area intended for sanitation, because ozone is harmful.

Minimum inhalation: Respiratory problems, itchy eyes;

Prolonged inhalation: Sense of suffocation, possible pulmonary edema, nausea, vomiting and loss of consciousness and a state of coma in humans after one hour of continuous exposure.

It is important to inform the staff present and close any access points to the area.

Ozone - Applicazione smartphone

Once the area has been made safe, it is possible to set the most suitable program for the area to be sanitized (cars, trucks, buses, 150 or 300 m3 rooms) via Air-O3, the Android smartphone application managed with the phone’s Bluetooth system.

Sanitation with the Ozone-O3 station is divided into two phases: ozonation and nebulization. In both phases it is possible to set the processing times, the cycle start time or choose whether to process only the ozone cycle or the nebulization cycle.

Select the “Start” button, a window will appear in which to enter the data of the vehicle to be sanitized which will be shown in the certificate of successful sanitation.

Warning: When the sanitation process begins, a safety beeper is activated which has the purpose of alerting people in the vicinity of the sanitation in progress.

3) Post-sanitization operations

Ozone O3 - Isolazione spazio da sanificare

Once the sanitation has been completed, it is mandatory to open doors and windows to facilitate air recirculation and wait a few minutes before entering the sanitized area still saturated with ozone.

Svuotamento Ozone

Disconnect the station from the power socket and after each operation it is mandatory to remove the residual disinfectant liquid from the internal tank of the station.

4) Print certificate of successful sanitation

The smartphone application also has a section dedicated to printing the certificates of successful sanitation of the treated areas.

Ozone-O3: Multi-sanitizing station with remote control

Ozone-O3 multi-sanitizing station with remote management with Android smartphone app and sanitation certificate printing system.

To ensure the safety of passengers during travel, Iteco Washing Systems offers among its solutions the new multi-sanitizing station Ozone-O3, designed for the sanitation of closed environments such as transport vehicles (trucks, buses and rental vehicles) and rooms of buildings from 150 to 300 m3.

The device is equipped with systems that promote effective, safe and certified sanitation:

Double processing circuit

The multi-sanitizing station has a double processing circuit: Ozone generator (O3) and a nebulization system.

Ozone O3 - Generatore ozono

The Ozone Generator (O3) allows you to perform air disinfection and the elimination of volatile pollutants.

Ozone O3 - Nebulizzatore

The nebulization system releases the disinfectant solution based on hydrogen peroxide (H2 O2) into the air, capable of eliminating the presence of microorganisms harmful to health such as viruses and bacteria, even on hard surfaces.

Remote management system

Ozone-O3 also guarantees the safety of the operator in charge of sanitization, thanks to the remote control system via smartphone application.
By downloading the Air-O3 Android smartphone app, you can manage sanitization operations with the bluetooth of your phone while maintaining a safe distance avoiding direct and dangerous exposure to ozone gas.

Printing of sanitation reports

The Ozone-O3 station management application also has a section for printing detailed reports that certify the sanitization performed.

Instructions on sanitation operations

Overview of sanitation operations: difference between detergent products and degree of effectiveness in neutralizing micro-organisms.

Sanitation is a set of processes aimed at eliminating dirt and harmful micro-organisms present in a specific area. For those who do not work in the sectors dedicated to the cleaning or sterilization of places and objects, they tend to ignore that operations such as cleaning, sanitation and disinfection are different methods of treatments classified according to the effectiveness in neutralizing organisms harmful to health.

In this article we want to clarify the difference between these terms and make it clear in which cases their applications are needed.

Cleaning

These are all those operations in which detergent products are used to eliminate dirt visible to the naked eye: mud, dust, grease, liquids, organic material, etc. These operations do not guarantee the neutralization of micro-organisms harmful to health such as viruses, bacteria or fungi, however it is an indispensable operation for the purposes of the subsequent phases of sanitation and disinfection.

Sanitation

These are those cleaning processes that help eliminate part of the microbiological contamination present in an area that cannot be removed with ordinary cleaning. In this procedure, detergent products are applied that do not have proven disinfectant properties, but they help to reduce the microbiological load and bring it back to acceptable parameters based on the intended use of the environments concerned. Sanitation must always be preceded by cleaning.

Disinfection

It is the only cleaning process that involves the use of biocidal products capable of destroying or inactivating pathogenic microorganisms through a chemical reaction or physical action. Disinfectant products are defined as such by the competent authorities (such as the Ministry of Health) after a series of tests in which their degree of biocidal efficacy on bacteria, viruses and / or fungi are tested. Disinfection must be preceded by cleaning to prevent dirt residues from compromising the effectiveness of this process
